“I have talked to them.” Malcador collaborated the statement of the Omnissiah with those words of his own, “It seems you agree with them.”
The Omnissiah gave a nod to those words, “I worship the God of Machines, a Material God. His domain in the grand scale of the cosmos does not include humanity. His purpose aligns with Humanity but he did not rule or guide them. It was the Emperor of Mankind who built a Rule of Law, it was he who smited those upon Bablon in their foolish attempt to conquer the world with words, and it was him who watched silently as Humanity went to the stars.”
“But he is a man. He does not watch over all mortals and neither does not hold any true sway upon their souls.” Malcador countered.
“In a sense neither does the C’Tan. We, for I am for the most part a member of their kind, can never truly die. We grant souls oblivion within our gullets if we feel hunger and many of them do not care for the affairs of mortals.” The Omnissiah admitted, “But we are Gods because we are the Masters of Reality. I both serve and am the undisputed Master of Machines. Is the Emperor not the Master of Mankind?”
Malcador’s brow rose as he understood not just those words but the conversation they were now having, “You already know what I am going to ask.”
“I do. My foresight is limited only against those who fully gave themselves to Chaos or are themselves Chaos. I can see it, if with what might be with an unfocused lens, the Emperor fighting within the Webways against a horde of Daemons. He has attempted, and failed, to seal a wound within the webway created by Magnus the Red.” The Omnissiah nodded as he felt his lens change slightly, “With him are the Custodian Guard and my loyal servants. The Emperor needs to leave and is now testing his options on who can guard his lines.”
“He knows you are strong enough to hold the line.” Malcador informed the Omnissiah.
“Which is convenient for it hides my existence from the eyes of those who are ignorant of the truth. That way you can still try to maintain the reality that there are not Gods and somehow force Chaos into submission.” The Omnissiah said, “But that is convenient to you but not the true aim. The Emperor needs to sit upon the Golden Throne and seal the webway, which requires a warrior who will fight to assist in clotting the wound.”
“There is one thing I wish for you to know, Omnissiah.” Malcador spoke such a term firmly so that the point would be made, “I will not force you. I know it will torture him till the end of days but an era where Mankind believes him to be a God is preferable to the damnation of Chaos.”
He had damned himself with those words. The Emperor, whose soul was tethered with Malcador, knew these words were spoken. It was an honest betrayal of their ideals that both of them shared. However in difficult times like these, men have done worse than go against their ideals.
