You don’t hear Irinnile’s reply, but as you turn your back on the chaos, you hear the screams of the Incubus’ minions, and you know she is showing them the same tenderness and mercy which the two of you showed the rest of this sad little cult to this lesser shade. As tempting as it was to cast the dice and see what became of Heinrich Yosef, it was never a real option. You came to this city—to this slum—on a mission. You are here to impregnate a princess, and Irinnile’s troublesome master is a part of that plan now, for better or worse. Besides, who knows what the blasted ‘Greater Demon’ had in store for the Green Knight? It would be foolhardy to assume the answer is a swift death and the liberation of the succubus from the knight’s clutches—after all, if you see the value in the would-be dragonslayer, this ‘Inky’ surely does too.
“Pity,” the Incubus’ uncanny projection oozes from around the corner of the alley. “We could have been friends, or at least partners in crime.”
“I come not as a criminal,” you say, as your shoggoth cuirass separates from your skin and begins to shape itself once more into its sword-form. “I am a conqueror, and I don’t require anything from YOU excccept your esssenccce.”
“Have it your way,” the Incubus says wearily.
At that cue, a half-dozen humanoids clad in the same bird-themed assassin-garb round the corner, clutching kitchen implements, chair legs, what appear to be sporting equipment, and even an actual sword (albeit not of highest quality). Your own sword is still in the process of forming, your mind and mana occupied in directing the process, and you are thus forced you to fall back upon fisticuffs. Luckily, while it is not your PREFERRED method of combat, you are no slouch in the arena of unarmed combat, either.
