“...And if we need more help, I’ll call her up.” You ignore the doll’s inane dialogue.
“She sounded pretty engaged, all things considered. Right time, right place for her help over there.” Vera relies. “Anyway, let’s resume my briefing!”
“Our.” Crossbill was part of it. She even initiated it. This woman is cheeky.
“Yeah, yeah, it’s a team meeting and all that.” Vera utterly ignores what the bird meant, and starts checking her notes. “We talked about Joe, we talked about Sasha, we talked about Lydie’s lame brother.”
“Hey!!! My brother is anything but that! My radiance is enough to carry him into the greatest threat status!” Lydie gets upset.
“Huh… Is he going to be against us? Didn’t you mark him as a friend?” Former Resting Laptop Table Liu sounds concerned.
“Even if he is, I can defeat him.” Lydie is way too confident.
“Wait, you didn’t call him to back off?! I thought you ignored my explicit instructions not to call him, to do that. Who were you on the phone the entire time with then?!!!” Vera is realizing something idiotic is going on.
“Ohohoho~! Beth, of course!” Lydie puts her hands on her hips to laugh.
“B-B-Beth...?” Liu starts hiccuping uncontrollably. Memories from last night cloud her frizzly head.
“Our Beth? That’s interesting. Why?” Crossbill is willing to listen.
“Why? Simple, my dear Crossbilly! Because Beth is a former member of the Mysterious International Assassin Syndicate!” Lydie reveals a big thing!
There goes Lydie again, making another cliffhanger...
