The place is deserted- and the lack of sound and music from the rows of pinball machines makes it eerie. Camila’s arm is firmly locked with Karuna's, who is aiming the flashlight on her cellphone at the darkness of the arcade.
▲ Camila: W-what the hell! This place is closed!
And yet she’s whispering.
▲ Camila: There is no way that this is legal! This is trespassing! And you want to be a cop?!
Angel: Yup.
Angel vanishes in the darkness behind the receptionist booth- and every one of the machines in the arcade lightens up. Emma, Camila, Marcela, and Karuna all look around; it’s like the screens are floating in the dark.
Angel: I flipped the switch for the lightbulbs so it wasn’t too obvious. Knock yourselves out, the tokens are over there.
She points at the booth behind her, but still walks up to Marcela and with a handshake smashes a handful of arcade tokens into her hand, some spilling all over the floor.
Angel: All that shit about beating House of the Dead with a single coin- it’s over. The day came, bietchetch.
Yet Marcela lightens up like a lightbulb.
▲ Marcela: Biechetinchech! You thought I was joking! Oh you poor thing! I pull this off right here and I’m using your head however I want for a week!
Angel: If you can’t, you ask my brother out on a date.
▲ Marcela: Which of the ten hundred?
Angel: Pedro.
▲ Marcela: …Two weeks.
Angel: Cold bitch. Deal.
And off they go, leaving behind Emma, Karuna, and Camila- who looks at the two others a bit desperate.
▲ Camila: Don’t tell me I’m the only one who thinks this is wrong!! That girl isn’t even a Magical Girl!
▲ Karuna: Would that change anything?
▲ Emma: I think that would make running a way a bit easier?
▲ Camila: That’s not the point!
The mess of melodies and game cues does end up drawing their attention regardless.
▲ Emma: …We aren’t really stealing anything, though?
▲ Camila: How spineless!
▲ Emma: It’s just… isn’t this kinda exciting?
▲ Karuna: Emma, wanna play snow bros with me!
▲ Emma: Oh I love that one. I used to play it with my brother.
Karuna slides her arm from under Camila’s and off they go, too, leaving her alone in the dark. Who is quick to release a faint, secret whimper.
▲ Camila: W-wait for me you jerks!
