A dozen miniature suns appeared, brightly hissing in the sky following the loud pops of flare guns- as well as the hollow chump of mortars- closely followed by artillery firing a preparatory bombardment on downtown Jagterfisk. A small regret to fire on an old town, but there was nobody there anymore but invaders anyways. The ground shook with the pounding of shells, as the battalion moved out, kept their eyes peeled, or watched for targets, fingers and thumbs on triggers.
Reports began to fly out and around of enemy contact. First and foremost- motorcycle scouts, practically within the Battalion’s lines- then the heavy trucks indicative of Moskity, the Twaryian motorized infantry, particularly their Combat Cars. Both the already encountered variant armed with automatic cannons, as well as what appeared to be something new- mounted with a heavier anti-tank gun rather than the automatic cannon. Even more dangerous, especially when their infantry had also been spotted.
The advance into the town was then covered not by lights, but by the lavender fog of Lachrymator gas. Shot from T-15s, no less- how those came to be armed with a Vynmark chemical weapon was a happy accident of naval ammunition procurement and how the guns on the T-15s shared a near-identical shell type with a model of Vynmark close defense naval gun. The Twaryians hadn’t intended that, of course- that had been a consequence of the Caelussian arms trade trying to break into the continent.
How funny it was, Yule thought, that their weapons may very well be being used against them now.
Though he also thought, as he marked down reported enemy positions…were the reconnaissance officers not looking hard enough, or was there not nearly enough defenders at a choke point like this? Something was definitely up, but he wasn’t sure what.
>Any units who have reserved fire may execute it against visible targets in their range and with a clear line of fire- this is separate from this turn’s shoot action.
