>>5999411Could be the 5 hour limit is something Merlin imposed at some point because the Atlanteans tried to go back WAY more and butterfly'd themselves out of existence. He did create the Time Turners after all; maybe that was as much as he though was safe, even for him, to do. Maybe they tried shit with the Cup of Sorrow, and it only affected them because how the ritual was made it would only affect them, since they considered non-Atlanteans to be non-human? Merlin did use it to create the Interdict and got scooped up accidentally and tossed into the void so we know shit with it can backfire. The 5-hour limit might be a limit of modern non-Atlantean magic, and they could do more back then. Or if you go back further, you end up always creating a timeline which you would never have tried to go back at all, and therefore you don't, and it solves itself. I hate time travel shit in general.
Prophecies can come true because it will happen no matter what, or they can be misheard or misinterpreted and people do shit they wouldn't normally do because of that and makes it happen. Or even hearing it correctly, it shifts your behavior in a way that makes it happen. There are also ones like about Voldy being defeated, which can have multiple ways to resolve themselves; Harry or Neville could have either been the one named in it, for example.
If Voldemort had just ignored the damn thing, he probably would have won.
But Helga did speculate that the reason prophecies were no longer being made is that there were so many timelines where things couldn't be changed, where doom was certain, and that if you aren't able to change it, why would you see them at all?
>the future is sending information way past that 5-hour mark to influence the past.As I said, prophecies might always be true, but we have shit like Neville/Harry and the fact that Elliot could just trip when helping his future daughter with a school play and "rip the stars from heaven" by tearing down part of the set with stars on a shitty black cloth sheet. Could end the world by playing a video game where he destroys Earth. All true, but not like people would assume.
Why I think learning more about Merlin's Hall of them is a good idea.
