Olivia exhales. “My dad doesn’t want us to look for your parents anymore. He says it’s too dangerous. Apparently, most anyone that went looking for the missing people went missing themselves, so he’s got me stuck here, and wants me to get you to come back too.”
Lorene purses her lips. The more she learned about the situation, the more certain she was that magical girls or Witches were involved in her parents’ disappearance somehow. In fact, it sounded a lot like people were being lured into a labyrinth. The only issue was the fact that she knew she’d made dead certain to hunt down every single Witch she detected, including this last one. If this Witch had really been active for months, surely she would have noticed it by now?
“Anyway,” Olivia lowers her voice to an excited whisper, “I still got something of use! I managed to get a glimpse at the map they were making of all the information they knew about the disappearances, and there’s a certain area in town they all tend to happen around!”
Lorene’s heartbeat quickens. “Really? Where’s that?!”
Olivia scoffs. “Come on, Lorene, if I tell you, you’ll just head over to check it out on your own and end up another missing person. No way. But…” Lorene can feel the girl’s grin through the phone. “If you had someone to watch your back, like a certain good friend of yours, maybe it wouldn’t be so dangerous!”
Lorene taps her foot as she thinks. “I can’t let you put yourself at risk, Olivia. It’s my parents that’re missing, so I have to take responsibility. Just tell me the location.”
“And I can’t just let my best friend waltz out on her own and disappear like all those other people, either! Head over to the police station, and the two of us can go check it out together. Or we could just call it here and let my dad handle it, I guess.”
>An actual lead? But Olivia’s pretty stubborn about keeping you safe…
