>>5817814One moment you're in the forest, the next find yourselves standing out in the middle of the street. Several people exclaim as you appear, then after seeing who you are, and what form you're in, immediately give you a bit more room. Except the couple, the young man and woman having fallen over as you appeared right in front of them.
“Kaper. Sallot. My daughter here has something she needs to confess.” you say, putting Chaya down and standing up to your full height, towering over everyone present as the two just sit there, shocked. Chaya doesn't look at the two for several seconds, looking down at the ground between your feet as she again tries to regain control of her breathing. Then, with a final, deep breath she turns, meeting their gazes.
“I'm sorry.” Chaya says. “It was me.”
“Huh?” Kaper asks, but you see a hint of anger in Sallot's eyes. He clearly understands what's going on, even though she's a few seconds slow on the uptake. “Sorry for what?”
“I was the one who did it.” Chaya says, sounding defeated as she drops to a knee, looking at the ground. Unable even to look the woman she'd wronged in the eye. “I used you for my own scheme, and I'm sorry.”
“Used me? What do you....Oh.....” the woman says, at first sounding more confused then trailing off as she realizes what your daughter'd said. Her expression goes from confused to shocked to angry, then just sad, turning to look away from Chaya as she stands back up. Meanwhile, you can see the young man is fuming, fists clenched so tight his arms are shaking as he stares her down. He's clearly considering attacking her, but then glances at you towering over everyone.
“Dammit.” Sallot seethes through clenched teeth, also pushing himself upright. He's radiating with impotent anger, knowing that he damn well can't do anything to her, and to have you standing there behind her makes her even more intimidating.
“I thought you genuinely wanted to be friends.” the woman continues, sounding more sad than anything. “But I guess I should have known better. Someone like you, there's no way you'd want to be friends with someone like me.”
“No, that's not wha-!” Chaya starts, looking up to her then freezing at the look of sadness and disgust on Kaper's face, who without another word turns her full attention back to her man, holding out her arm a bit.
“Let's go. Before she decides she doesn't like us either.” Kaper says, digging in and twisting the knife as Sallot entwines his arm through hers, the two walking away from you, Chaya, and Meloka. And seeing them go, together, you hear Chaya let out another small, pained sound as she collapses to all fours, drops of water hitting the ground down between her hands. And as Chaya starts to cry once more, the young couple go on their way.
