Preemptively, you take a look at both sides before leaning closer to the shopkeeper. Pascaline follows suit, not without adjusting her chest area. Those pesky shirts continue bothering her, maybe you should gift her one that fits her perfectly! Not now though, you need to ask some questions.
“Have you seen anyone suspicious lately?” You whisper like you’re a gossiping middle aged person.
“Oh, are you involved in a new case already? You’re so hardworking, Phil.” Pascaline praises your work-ethic.
“I-I’m not a policeman.” You retort without thinking. This misunderstanding keeps on going!
“Yes, yes, you *aren’t*.” Pascaline manages to wink with her eyes closed again. “I can’t recall any suspicious individuals aside from that little thief. Speaking of her, how’d it go? Did you get a hold of her? I’m sure you did.” She’s talking about Crossbill.
“Trust me, she’s not going to bother anyone anymore.” You didn’t do anything exactly, but you believe Crossbill’s treasure hunting is over for the time being.
“I knew it, Phil! You deserve some free samples for a job well done.” Pascaline believes you brought the bird to justice. She couldn’t be more wrong! You even built a business empire with her! A business empire consisting of one Food Cart, but it’s a well-trained unit.
“Maybe later.” You don’t want to lose focus on that delicious cheese.
“This case must be taking a lot of your mind.” Pascaline knows it isn’t easy for you to reject her quality products. “Please, tell me more. If I lead you to some sort of clue, it’d make this trip worthwhile for you.”
“Seeing you again is always worth it.” You can’t imagine passing by this stand without a smile on your face! Her booth is that good!
“Oh, Phil. I know you need the right inspiration to move the case forward. Allow me to be your muse.” Pascaline REALLY wants to help again! She’s one of the friendliest women you’ve ever met!
“I-It’s not a case, again, I’m no law enforcer. I’m just having a weird feeling.” You scratch the back of your head like every time you feel a tiny bit uncomfortable.
“Is it love?” Pascaline chuckles.
“No, I feel like I’m being stalked.” You cross your arms.
“Oh no, do you have any clues about who this happens to be? Is it someone affiliated with the underworld?” Pascaline’s usual smile isn’t as wide anymore.
“I don’t know, I feel like I’m being intensively observed all the time; but every time I look around, it’s like nobody is facing me anymore or is looking away.” You don’t understand why this is happening.
“How worrisome…” Pascaline loses more and more of her smile. “I’ll be frank with you, Phil. I relate with everything you said, it is happening to me as well, but I decided to blame it all on happenstance. But now I wonder… are we being followed by the same criminal organization…?”
