The force assembled to drive down at Quellor from the Nanth’ri Corridor is massive, and preliminary reports indicate that the Republic’s assembled defense force is nearly as large. Admiral Tonith was rather pleased that he would be conducting what, as far as anyone could tell, would be the largest battle of the War yet. Out of those not taking place in systems with major shipyards, at least.
The Separatist fleet would be split into five battlegroups, four largely equal, with a fifth, smaller formation held in reserve a hyperjump away. The fourth group would also have a less active role, at least at first, and is meant to act as a counter to the Republic’s initial response when the Separatist fleet enters the system.
>[A] Your role is to command the Spearhead Group, front and center, it has the most Recusant-class destroyers and is meant to soak up the brunt of the damage while aiming to break through the Republic lines for the planet, though a full-scale occupation of Quellor is not the operation’s goal.
> Your role is to command the Shield Group, to the left of the Spearhead and with the greatest concentration of Munificent-class light destroyers. Its goal is to draw Republic ships away from the center and allow it and the right to sweep through all while you bloody your enemy’s nose.
>[C] Your role is to command the Saber Group, to the right of the Spearhead and with an atypically high ratio of pickets to capital ships. With its high complement of fighters and smaller ships, its goal is to push fast and hard against the Republic and do damage before pulling out behind the defenses of your Lucrehulks.
