“You have proven yourself,” a weak whisper emerges from the mashed corvid between you and the hovering sword. “I… Submit. I have a prince of this city in my pocket… I am willing to make a deal, and to… To SERVE.”
The incubus doesn’t sound HAPPY about such an arrangement, but it’s hardly in a position to bargain. You could demand its true name, bind it to your will… The demon is certainly powerful enough to be a useful minion, and if what it says about having insinuated a PRINCE into its service… Well, that’s your ticket to the princess!
“You can’t trust this scumsuckin’ little shit!” Irinnile pleads. “Come on, big boy, my way’s more fun! An’ ME, you can trust… “
“Can I?” you speculate aloud, recalling her earlier reaction to the attempted assassination or kidnapping of ‘Ricky’ the Green Knight.
“Your momma did,” the succubus says quietly. “Come on, baby. It’s me… Hot Aunty Iri, right? Your momma trusted me… You can, too.”
CAN Irinnile be trusted? Can ‘Inky’ be, with enough coercion and a draconianly-worded pact? Can ANY demon really be considered a reliable tool, with their will and agenda always partly their own, inherently contrary to all that lives—ever scheming, manipulating, advancing their own personal cause? Maybe it would be best to just feed the incubus to the shoggoth-sword, and make do with what you already have, lest you rely on forces even YOU can’t control?
“Come oooon,” Irinnile begs. “I’m on my KNEES for you here, baby. We had a deal, right? Your big boss is all about keepin’ your word, right?”
