...
Would one believe it if they were told just now that Seannsa's strive to acquire a boat to simply cross into Shengesia with was going to end more complicated than initially anticipated?
...
Suffice to say, they should, because it did.
They were faced with the suspicion and righteous ire of a mother, a truly terrible force to behold. Especially when that mother was none other than Shennu, the tutelary deity of the water and the oceans herself. The divine dragon snorted down at the trembling selves of the Greymalkins and Spray Guy, gathered in hiding behind the nervous forms of Seannsa, Catastrovania and Samurai Summers.
"...You ought to know, my little wolf has become disheartened over your words more than once."
Seannsa's eye twitched; "...Aye... but the little cretin is the one who starteh' it firs'."
Shennu's next snort blew into them like a fierce wind from a hurricane, the Dragon's snout lowered further towards the beach below they stood on. Behind her winding form slithering through the air was the boat Seannsa planned to take. It was shredded into several pieces by the claw of the Dragoness.
"And I do not deny that. I continue to scold him even now for his insistence, but one who is still only able to have the heart of a child will remain childish. Otherwise, he would not be my cub now, but neither he or humans have advanced past their feelings on the matter..." Shennu explained; "Despite this, you cannot deny that you are rather harsh in dealing with his mere antics..."
Seannsa glanced to the sand below. She admits, she might have gone far enough to draw tears from the corners of his eyes before. And maybe even thought it was hilarious too...
"I dun't s'pose ye' also came to take me in, did ye'...?"
Shennu tilted her head. "Muna has expressed her concerns over your sudden leave. Yes, she would prefer if you came back, but she has ultimately decided to leave it up to you. I am more concerned with having a word with you myself."
"Ah see..."
Shennu came down lower, staring the Cat Goddess right in the eyes. "At times, my cub comes to me and laments the harsh things you tell him in your arguments. He sometimes even questions the nobility of wolves! That is not something he's ever done before!"
It was news to Seannsa. There was one thing Wolfboy never let anyone drag down, and it was his claim as to how "noble" that the wolf was. He viewed them as among the top creatures of all Hainei. Even though his miniature state was the result of mankind's domestication of the canine today, he never let go of his pride as a wolf, as the figure who lived as an image of the entire animal kingdom itself in the flesh.
Seannsa must have REALLY broken some things in his head throughout their rivalry. She even feels a bit guilty. A bit.
"Do you have anything to say for yourself?" Shennu asks.
>Answer... truthfully?
>Answer... with appeasement?
>Beg like a dog would?
