With pleasure and presents home out of the way, and you purse a little lighter for it, next comes the question of wages. Mikail is your squire, so he is being paid already in knowledge, experience and occasionally equipment you have no further use for. Brother Rousseau is a sworn brother of the Knights Comitas, and thus their charge rather than directly in your employ. But that does leave Orin and Jess.
Orin is simple enough, you intend to pay him the same rate your father would offer an unskilled servant or fresh militiaman. Until he proves himself worthy of a higher payroll this arrangement is more than fair in your eyes, considering the circumstances of his hiring. Jess the Kid is trickier to figure out. In addition to having proven herself as a proficient marksman, she has demonstrated her skills as a tracker as well as having shown that she is more than capable of handling tasks requiring a degree of discretion. They have enjoyed your hospitality and protection during their travels in the realm of man where the Law of Adam reigns, but this is in part you fulfilling a life debt. As for wages, you doubt Jess even understands human currency beyond seeing men swap them for other things. Does a Fae even have use for coin? How do you know she won’t just flick her pay overboard one by one, like a child with pretty pebbles near a lake?

>It is one thing to ensure safe passage, you are a man that pays your debts. It is quite another to actually -employ- a Fae in your retinue and pay them like another human attendant. Possibly even blasphemous. Keeping them fed and clothed is enough. [Haughty] [0.0 Sequins a day]
>You will pay her the same rate as Orin. You have to pay her -something-, and this seems a fair compromise given the other factors. You are not a landed noble with the same wealth and resources as Father, and this rate remains comfortably within your means. [Hearty] [0.1 Sequins a day]
>Honest pay for honest work. What a Fae spends their earnings on, be it more masks or discarding them by the road, has nothing to do with what you pay them. You’re not entirely clear on what a skilled archer in your Father’s employ would earn, but you believe that is fair given her skills. [Idealist] [0.2 Sequins a day]
