We walk carefully out of the rock cover to learn more about this land, being sure our girthy Rhinoceros footfalls don't alert these creatures. "Coooooooongratulations!!!" Right on cue, the HissBoy lights up and beeps, telling us and all the mauvebeaks that we've discovered Dugong's Vale. The scatter-pillar cocks its dead eye in our direction, and starts worming its way over to investigate Chomp-Chomp's wrist. The single alert scatter-pillar, which dwarfs our entire tribe, moans lazily as it corkscrews menacingly towards us, presumably to eat us!
KRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
KRREEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
KREEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
A trio of shadow devils all converge on the barreling scatter-pillar, and rip it to shreds violently with their knobby talons, and quarrel amongst themselves for a second to claim the carrion, before darting back to the skies just as quick. We look up through a break in the canopy and see a tree much taller and slightly bigger around than all other trees in Dugong's Vale, where the shadow devils return to a large and visible nest fashioned from bones.
The lack of parental and tribal unity in mauvebeaks is on full display - the adults don't attempt to fight off the shadow devils, in fact, they never stopped grazing over the rocks. They disgust us. Roaches are rather unique in the insect kingdom; we enjoy the concept and culture of familial respect. This event has been a stark reminder that to overcome The Collapse, our tribe must work together, young and old. Umber-Shield gathers the tribe together. Though we have no official hierarchy, we all trust in his wisdom and leadership, as he is the eldest, and father to many. Umber-Shield begins discussing the benefits of this location, despite the dangers. There is plentiful shade, soft soil and food. The HissBoy beeps and displays another undiscovered location to the south. Banshee wails of the massive mauvebeaks cut effortlessly through the dank air. What do we do next?
One of the roaches has an idea that we all rally around:
>Get the hell out of Dugong's Vale! (Choose an undiscovered location to travel to - 1, 2, or 3. Refer to image.)
>Devise a plan to claim Dugong's Vale as a new territory. We would need to prepare for the shadow devils.
>Attempt to get the mauvebeaks to help us. (Optional: with what?) (Note: interspecies communication is difficult)
