The chamber is twice as large as the entire main hall. The floor is mostly made of the same tile-like material that the refurbished base has. However, a large grid takes up the central portion. It's a holodeck! This one is lower-poly since it's not built into a partition of its own. It's the same sort that provides scenery at the park, or chunky fake projections of animals at the zoo. Several large towers are sprouting from a bluish floor, which stretches downwards into a simulated abyss.
Kaus Gammamon is already here, weaving between the ivory pillars and showing off his mobility. Wind spots you as soon as you enter, and waves the both of you over.
<span class="mu-s">"He's fast!"</span> Phascomon remarks. Indeed, the blue Champion is slipping between buildings with ease. He tucks his limbs in and releases bursts of air to change direction, making his way from one end to the other within seconds.
"Okay, that's all for now, Kaus Gammamon. Take a breather."
He flies out of the Holodeck's range and slowly glides to the ground, landing beside his tamer.
"You're up on time. Good. Have you had breakfast?"
"We ate on the way here," you say. "Digivice food."
"What?"
He blinks in confusion. His own blocky little device must not have that function! You haven't been able to go back to nutrient brick crap after Doc installed the meat miner on your Linker.
"Nevermind. What's our training schedule going to be like?"
"I'm going to be showing Phascomon the kinds of Rookies we're going to be up against. And he'll need to practice his Evil Snore on Kaus Gammamon. There are definitely Champions in there that we might need to deal with."
"Do you have data on Espimon?"
"Not as much as we'd like," he says with a shake of his head.
You extract the simulation file from your Digivice and swipe it towards him. He gives you a look of surprise, then a nod of appreciation. The information is uploaded into the holodeck, which has returned to being a flat field.
"What were you practicing? Does Kaus Gammamon go up to the surface often?"
"No. Noooo, big no. You don't want to be taking a joyride like that without good reason."
<span class="mu-s">"Can't draw eyes, Marnie. Not with your big fella up there."</span>
"Right, Brigadramon... Is it just scanning for wild Digimon all the time?"
"Not random ones. It's not going to go full-auto on a random Gabumon that crawls out onto the road. But the stronger a Digimon is, the easier the sensors pick it up. If they're lucky, they send something from the Tower to investigate. If they're not..."
You remember ToyAgumon's story, and nod. Noted. It's dangerous to let a Champion wander around outside.
"So if you're not having him dodge buildings, what was that simulation about?"
"It's for the inside of the data center."
<span class="mu-s">"What? Awful lot of pillars and drops for a factory."</span> Phascomon quips. He's trying to mess with the holodeck, but a red 'ACCESS DENIED' prompt keeps showing up. He doesn't dare to hack it in Wind's presence.
