Wilhelm looked around. They stood on a small patch of land bordered by water on three sides. He began to wonder how they would continue, when Rudolph and Adolph reached down and pulled apart a pile of branches. Wilhelm watched as the men pulled a small boat from its concealment.
"Climb aboard, boy," Ludolph said as he stepped into the boat. "Our keep is some distance from here."
Wilhelm helped Mirabel into the boat, then climbed into it after her. The other two men pushed it away from the shore and leapt onto the deckboards.
