>>5769808>>5769810…But when it clears, your heart falls.
>9, 3, 2The Lightning Elemental does not stand above a fallen, flash-friend Demon Knight. Rather, the possessed Lord Yosef holds the faintly-humanoid Lightning Elemental in a death-grip with one green gauntlet, as surely as any more tangible fleshly victim. It struggles, crackling and buzzing in dismay as it scrambels to free itself, but it is transfixed.
“You…” the green Knight begins, voice low and still slightly asynchronous. “You were just trying to… To trick us! To divide us! To save your own WORTHLESS, SCLAY SKIN!”
You shield your eyes at a second flash as, with a single squeeze and an exertion of arcane force, the Demon Knight breaks the energy-field holding the Lightning Elemental together as a single, cogent being… And then, as easily as breathing in air, inhales it. You watch in growing horror as the energies of your magical minion are absorbed an integrated into the Greater Demon’s own… And the Kinslayer’s baleful light turns bluish white, and begins to surge with that same electrical energy.
“You wanted to know our plans for when we are done with you?” the Demon Knight asks, two voices speaking once more as one. “We’re going to find that Lizard Kingdom of yours and every last ONE of you VERMIN! Now THAT’S something we can BOTH enjoy!”
You take a step back, scrambling to think of another countermeasure—a way to beat this overpowered entity. You narrowly avoid a spark of lightning which rips towards you as the Demon Knights wings its terrible weapon, and you realize that Yosef’s sword-arm is once more mended—at least, enough to move it again and to present a problem.
>Demon Knight spends a turn regenerating, now has 2/5 HPYou need to end this quickly if you’re going to survive this. A single hit and you’re done for. You look around and see you other allies all still engaged with eh surprisingly-fierce human forces. Oh these farmers may not be trained warriors, but they are animated by a dreadful zealotry—the passionate, almost reverential love of the Greater Demon of Lust. Your warriors are their betters, of course, but they are also outnumbered, and only NOW are they starting to gain momentum.
For the first time, you consider retreat as a possible option.
What will you do?
>Tactical retreat is your ONLY option—you must withdraw, regroup with your allies, and make a plan>You have no other option—you need an area-of-effect spell like the <Radiant Aura>, and that means risking the Red Dragon King’s awakening>There… In the forest, awaiting your signal… The Occultist! If she can use her demonological knowledge to weaken or bind this lesser shade for even a MOMENT, maybe you can finish this>You still have one more elemental at your disposal—releasing the Ice Elemental could provide another useful distraction, though it will no doubt be feral at first>Write-in
