You shrug. “Call him what the media’s been calling me for the past few months. ‘Spider-Man’.”
They both nodded.
“It’s got a nice ring to it.” Cat admitted.
“Kinda catchy, yeah.” Prowler agreed, to your great surprise.
“Although, if you could call him ‘Itsy-Bitsy Spider’ and other names like that at first, I’d really appreciate it.” you added.
A devious grin spread across Cat’s features, and Prowler just shook his head.
“But first, I’ve gotta get changed into another suit.”
“You have one better suited to this mission?” Prowler asked.
“Not really. I want to lend this one to him for a while. At least until I can have another one made for him.” you replied.
“Which one are you planning on wearing?” Cat chimed in.
“Probably the one that Silvermane gave to me. It was a pretty sweet gift.” you said, going to your room to change. You’d have to get Prowler to transfer your AR programs to your new lenses whenever you got the chance.
—-------
A few hours later, Abel arrived at your hideout, wearing that same ratty hoodie he’d been wearing during his late night escapades. His timing was impeccable. You’d just finished copying the AR programs over to the Silver Lining suit.
“Hey, gang! It’s good to see you guys.” Abel said in an overly familiar tone. Having realized his error, Abe quickly revised his earlier statement. “For the first time. Because we’ve never met.”
Cat and Prowler gave him an odd look. You flashed Abe the okay hand sign, congratulating him on his “smooth and subtle” entrance. He flashed you the middle finger, and the other two turned to face you, but you were already turned away, whistling to yourself and studying an interesting spot on the far wall.
Prowler looked between the two of you, and you could see the cogs in his mind turning as he tried to put two and two together. Cat’s expression was unreadable, but you guessed that she was doing similar calculations in her head.
It wouldn’t take a genius to realize that you and Abe had some sort of relation. Neither of you really tried to mask your voice, and you had almost identical builds and mannerisms.
At the very least, they would probably come to the conclusion that you were brothers, which was technically true, but far enough from the truth that you weren’t uncomfortable with the implications that they could extract from drawing such a conclusion.
“So,” Abel continued. “What’d I miss?”
Felicia crooked a finger and sauntered over to the planning table with an enticing sway of her hips. “Come on over and I’ll show you what you’ve been missing…Itsy Bitsy~.”
