The ravine opens into an oasis of paradise. The other students are standing on the shore of a clear pool, their backs to Cady, but past them, the waterfall on the far side catches her attention. All along the cliff face beneath the torrent of water, the rock is glowing and sparkling with a rainbow of stars.
Oberon's impassive face is already turned toward the waterfall. "It appears this is a natural deposit of kyber crystals."

Triss protectively grabs the hems of her vest like a winter coat. "Won't our clothes get wet?"
Lyra springs to her feet and bumps against the other girl and giggles. "You don't need your clothes to swim!"
