You spy people of all sorts. There are the usual unsavory punks who hang out in places like these, but there are just as many civilians and folks in regular outfits. Even a few businessmen. There's little exchange between the groups, but an air of curiosity lingers. Understanding dawns on you after a few moments, and you pick up the pace with a swear under your breath.
"They're rubberneckers."
<span class="mu-s">"They're what? Look, I don't know all your fancy street lingo. They bad?"</span>
"No. Just here to gawk at a mess-"
And a mess you find. From afar, you see an orange electromagnetic barrier, erected at waist-level and stretching across an entire segment of the district. Folks are stopping in front of it to take pictures and stare past it. One guy tries to touch it, and his hand fizzles against what appeared to be empty air. A few others follow his lead and start poking the barrier in wonder.
"Security line. They set these up whenever there are incidents, and they need to cordon off areas from the public."
<span class="mu-s">"So these guys like to watch?"</span>
"Yeah. I guess even pencil pushers need a bit of organic excitement."
Some of the people who try the hardest to fake their place in the 87O ecosystem are right here, presumably ditching their jobs just to get a glimpse of the wreck. It fills you with a tinge of hope, to know that they're not just devoid of all free will.
The other rubberneckers are probably customers, here to see what's become of Doc. His workshop is right in the middle of the security line, and it's now clear that something has happened. Did he get podded? If the city security nabbed him, why would they conspicuously set up an entire line and alert people to the coding den's presence?
<span class="mu-s">"Hey. Marnie, over there."</span>
"Where?"
<span class="mu-s">"There! Right there, by the F-shaped building. Use your eyes, come on!</span>
You roll them instead. He's staring at something through your goggle feed, and you manage to spot it once it begins moving. There's a Digimon in the exclusion zone. It's rather large, with an intimdating-looking set of metal claws. It has a blocky metal body that reminds you of Guardromon, and right as you get a good look at it, it takes off using a powerful jet thruster.
The crowd below cheers and gasps as they catch sight of it from the ground. It's mostly visible from your vantage point, but plenty of them are only able to get a glimpse. It excites them nonetheless.
The EM barrier prevents you from scanning it, but you don't need to. You know what it is.
"Mekanorimon."
