>>6188396You are a slime that has learned to change shape into a vaguely humanoid female form in order to lure prey. You can’t actually make any sound other than gurgling, so you usually submerge yourself in a pool of water and pretend to be drowning, hoping that someone will jump in to save you—only to be engulfed and dissolved in your acidic slime.
This strategy has been wildly successful, netting you a large meal roughly every six months. In fact, it has worked so well that a few other slimes have started copying you. You noticed that the more attractive your humanoid form appeared, the more likely someone was to try and rescue you. Over the years, your imitations have become incredibly alluring and convincing. Sometimes, you don’t even need to pretend to be drowning anymore—you just smile, and your targets willingly step into the water.
But lately, something strange has been happening. A relentless influx of new prey keeps arriving, but their flesh is poisonous. Instead of gaining mass from eating them, you lose mass as you spit them out. Once a towering, monstrous slime, you are now barely larger than your humanoid form. Your drowning trick is no longer working, so you decide to leave the lake and search for a better feeding ground.
Unfortunately, you still haven’t figured out how to distinguish a proper meal from a poisoned one. The toxic creatures don’t seem to talk much; they only make strange, feral noises.
You emerge from the water, your form taking the appearance of an unbelievably attractive humanoid female. A small puddle pools beneath your feet as you "walk." Your movements are slow and slightly unnatural, with a subtle bobbing motion that may make some people suspicious. Still, with the right approach, you might convince a naive traveler to come close enough for you to strike.
Your "henchmen"—lesser slimes that have adopted your hunting techniques—notice you leaving the lake and decide to follow you.
> Invent a new shape – Abandon your current form and create a new, potentially more effective disguise. (Specify what kind of form you take; once changed, you won’t remember your current form.) > Find another pool – Perhaps the issue is with this location. Relocate and try setting up a new hunting ground elsewhere. > Hunt in a different way – Instead of waiting for prey to come to you, actively seek out a target. (Specify how you approach hunting.) > Observe the poisoned prey – Study the strange creatures that have been arriving. Maybe you can find a pattern or clue to avoid future losses. > Write in
