You quickly finish up your own practice in between timing her, before focusing exclusively on conditioning training for her.
"What's this got to do with self-defense?" Holly asks after a while in-between sit-ups.
"For one thing, fighting is exhausting, so you need stamina to maintain it." You explain. "For two... well, you're a girl." You say apologetically.
"Thanks for that, Captain Obvious." Holly says as she goes back down and struggles up again.
"Not what I meant." You reply. "Even an untrained, out of shape man could overpower you, so you've got to be careful - think fast, stay mobile and fight dirty." You explain. "Even Fie doesn't go in for straight-up brawling. She trips, targets joints and sensitive points." You add, recalling some of the times you've seen her fight.
"So... I've got to be strong before I can fight?" Holly asks.
"It would be for the best. Also, I don't want you hurting your feet today, because we've still got to get back to Saltcoast, so for today: conditioning." You reply. "In the meantime, I'd focus on your pokemon and training your psychic talent with Gardevoir." You reply. "Even if you just float a rock or something, that ought to be enough to convince most people to leave you alone." You add.
"You think that's all it'd take?" Holly asks.
"Would you want to fight someone who could bounce you off the scenery and is visibly showing they have the capacity?" You ask in return.
Holly grimaces, before shaking her head.
"Point." She admits.
The rain has by now, finally stopped and the sun has even come out.
