"Manage what?"
"Your life, being both a police officer and a hero."
"Do not take offense to this, Officer but why ask me?"
You shrug. "We're the same, at least as far as I see it. Both of us juggling being Meta's and Cops, you lean more towards the meta I lean more towards the cop."
You see a small smile spread on Jones face.
"Yes, I suppose we are rather similar. Thank you."
"Uh, no problem?" You reply confused.
"Sadly however we are not as similar as you may think. Look into my mind." He says quietly. He closes his eyes and begins breathing slowly and steadily. You spend a few moments feeling silly, staring at a man with closed eyes trying to force mind powers on him. Right as you're about to give up you decide to enter the same state you do as when you scry, focusing on the presence he has rather than his physical body.
You're whisked away.
Smoke, haze, burning embers and fallen wood. You feel intense fear, heart gripping, lightning through the spine levels of fear. But more than that you feel a sense of duty. Ready to give your life if you must.
You force open your eyes through stinging smoke. You raise your head and scream. "DIABOLU!" You call, your voice rattling the timbers. You await any sort of response but hear nothing, nothing but the cry of a child, smothered by smoke and crackling fire.
You blink and find yourself in front of the child, trapped beneath a metal bed frame with heavy timber laying atop it. You take a deep breath and grab the massive timbers, as you lift them you feel surprise. An emotion coming from you, not the inherited memory. Mental powers and superhuman strength is quite the combo. You howl and scream in agony as the smoldering timber breaks apart in hands as you throw it hard enough to crack the wall. You extend your arm, far beyond that which is natural to a human. Another shock, the ability to stretch incredible distance.
Another blink another moment. You sprint through the building hurling yourself over fallen wood and rubble, fire licks and whips at your legs but you can't focus on that now. You look over your shoulder and see a beast made of smoke, a massive snake that trails after you, it's form breaks as it connects with objects in it's path before reforming and baring it's silver fangs at you. You know in the back of your mind if the slightest wisp of smoke touches the child she will die, you won't allow that to happen. Another blink and cold air fills your lungs, the crackling burning building behind you, the girl in the arms of your partner, Diane. You breath a sigh of relief after somehow having lost the Idol Head's beast in the chase. You watch as Diane walks the young girl to your shop, they both smile at you. It is only then you see the smoke beast forming on the other side, mouth open ready to strike....
