You instantly recognise the name of the woman that first addressed you, Dame Svetlanna of the Silver Rose is a decidedly controversial figure in the Courts of your home duchy. A little over a year before you earnt your spurs as a knight and set out on errantry there was a trial where the sword sister was accused of murdering a nobleman, a man she claimed to strike down for the offence of indecently assaulting her charge. From what your sisters told you the noble had indeed been a notorious cad, but the political interests of the local Lord Glasdale presiding over the trial made a finding of innocence unlikely despite the support of the ward’s family.
Dame Svetlanna demanded trial by combat, which she was granted by virtue of her own noble blood, and promptly slew the local Lord’s champion at the appointed hour. Unfortunately for the vindicated sword sister, the knight that volunteered to face her in the duel was a cousin of the Romaine family itself. The Duchess banished her, much to the public outcry of the Order of the Silver Rose, and several sword sisters joined the banished Svetlanna in exile in protest of the unjust decree.
Most of the other female warriors gathered here are probably from that number, although there are two others who have made their own way to this foreign land for their own reasons.
The piercing emerald eyes and short-kept hair is the first thing you notice about Dame Kalina, but you recognise that name as well. Word of the scandal had yet to reach you by the time you reached Port Bounty, but Roselyn had been delighted to bring you up to speed while arranging an invitation to the Duke Pascae’s Ball. Apparently Dame Kalina and her ward, an eligible bachelorette of the House Solym, fled the Duchy over an unfavourable match in marriage that the family was determined to see through. There were also rumours that she and the Young Lady Solym were… intimate. You’re not enough of a dullard to bring up such a subject here, but a part of you wonders if the firstborn daughter of Lord Solym joined the sword sister here in Cathagi.
