You turn away from their training and change the subject.
"So- Ryan, what's the system for getting new recruits? Do you just send out those missions and take in whoever can obtain their targets?"
"That's one way. We've also been recruiting Digimon directly."
"Really?" You ask, rather intrigued in that idea.
"Squid and Wind were both in agreement that strength wasn't the only trait we needed. We need Digimon who have an actual connection with their humans. Y'know, like me and Gizamon. Like you and Phascomon. So we've started getting Digimon first, and inviting them to the base with the promise of a human partner. We let them choose from our members. Plenty of them are happy just serving as support, like the jamming team. But anyone with aspirations is looking to get picked up by a Digimon. And Hannah over there was chosen."
<span class="mu-s">"Surprising amount of foresight then. None for the recruits, though? They're left to beat up and drag their own partners in?"</span>
"That doesn't happen all the time, come on. Would Marnie over here have been able to defeat you all by herself?"
<span class="mu-s">"Guess not. Not even as a Rookie."</span>
You nod in agreement.
"Yeah. So, most of the time, the test is to determine whether they can convince the Digimon to actually come on board. We give them their locations and offer entry to whoever can come by with the bounty, but there are no rules on the actual means of procurement. I don't really know what Wind is going for with that one."
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-b">"Maybe he wants a bigger variety in personalities, or something."</span></span>
"You got a real rotten one, then. That Goburimon guy. I don't like the way he treats Digimon."
<span class="mu-s">"But it's your problem to deal with. You're a senior now, yeah? Word of advice for me, keep an eye on that guy. Don't let his attitude infect the rest of these guys."</span>
Ryan nods solemnly, and you move on to the next area.
