You smiled down at the fairy flowers approvingly and nodded to yourself. “I think these are ready to be sold.” you declared. “We might need someone to test them out beforehand, Strange should be happy with the way that they came out. Maybe they’d ease the burden of Webb’s astral projections, too.”
You muttered that last part of yourself, but you were certain that Callisto had overheard. She knew very little about the woman herself, and she didn’t seem to be terribly curious about her role in all this.
Right when you were about to ask the two girls about the rate of growth that had been set for this batch, a sudden thought struck you.
You glanced at Nature Girl out of the corner of your eye and smirked. “Hey, Lin? How do you feel about bees?”
The horned girl gave you the most pleasant smile you’ve seen from her yet. It wasn’t a very common occurrence to begin with.
“Oh, I love bees! They’re nature’s most important pollinators, and are almost crucial to maintaining a healthy ecosystem.”
You quickly raised a hand to stop her before she went on another tangent. “That’s awesome. Because I’ve got some old plans regarding bee-related heists that might come in handy.”
Callisto raised an eyebrow at that. “And you just happened to have those lying around somewhere.”
“Well, I don’t have them on me right now. I’d have to ask my rabbit friend for them later.”
Ethel stared at you with some interest, clearly not understanding what it was that you were alluding to. Callisto was just as lost; shaking her head and letting out a resigned sigh with a small grin on her face.
“You’re a weird guy, Huntsman.”
Lin took several steps closer to you, a slightly manic look in her eyes. “Weird or not, he’s got bees! BEES! Do you have any idea how much they could do for us if we set up a hive down here?”
“Cool your jets, Bullwinkle. How confident are you that you can even keep them under control?” Callisto asked.
Lin placed her hands on her hips and held her antlers up proudly. “Very. Solitary insects like spiders are a bit harder, but bees mostly operate on a drone-like instinct. Sort of like ants.”
Well that sounded promising. Maybe you’d get some more use out of this hippie after all.
“What cause would we be fighting for exactly?” she asked.
You blinked at her. “What’s that now?”
“Our cause. You said that it was a heist of some sort? What would we be taking? Is there some kind of corrupt megacorp polluting the water supply?”
“Huh? Oh yeah, there’s probably a few of those lying around her somewhere. Roxxon’s pretty notorious for their chemical spills.” you suggested. “But we can talk more about that later. I’ve got an upcoming job that I might need some help with.”
