>>5752131There was no denying that half your group was hurting badly from the fight with Odesse. Against a numerically superior and dangerous enemy like the one in front of you, you’d have the disadvantage. Still, even though you were short on time, perhaps if you could stall Bennett, you could buy some opportunity for Kayla and Uriel to heal the others. You might even be able to find out more about what he was planning, and what he meant by his own “mission.”
>“You seem to be in a hurry to get out of here. It doesn’t sound like you’re afraid of just me. What could be so important that you’d walk away from a heretic in need of punishment?”Bennett smirks. “Was that supposed to rile me up? With the death of that snake, I’m afraid I’m in far too good a mood to let anyone ruin it. Least of all a petulant girl like you.” Not taking your bait, Bennett instead reaches for something underneath his throne. He grabs a familiar looking staff. You quickly recognize it as the same type Diogenes used back in Ordelia. It was a Warp staff.
>“You intend to run away?! You’d abandon your own army?!”“All the people I need are either in this room or waiting for me somewhere else.” Bennet says. “Now that all that disgusting fog has dissipated, I’m free to make my exit. I’m grateful for your help, Blair. If it weren’t for you, killing Odesse would have been a much harder endeavor. If death is truly what you seek, I’m more than happy to accommodate you. Ezekiel! Fritz!”
“Yes, your holiness!” One of Bennett’s guards’ shouts at attention. The man looks every bit the part of a veteran warrior, wearing well-chipped armor and wielding both a wicked looking axe and sword. He looks like the captain of this bunch.
“Uhh…yeah.” Fritz says, less enthusiastically.
“I ask that you strike down this heretic and her ilk! Afterwards, meet me at the appointed place. Waste not a second on this siege. Leave the Dukedom to pick up the pieces.”
“Yes, your holiness!” Ezekiel shouts.
“You got it…” Fritz says sullenly.
>“Wait!” You shout, but it’s too late. In a flash of arcane magic, Bennett vanishes from the tent without a trace.
