His eyes wandered as they could not comprehend all in a single glance. The first thing he had noticed was the sheer amount of rubble strung about the place. Pieces of what were at first plentiful wood, then he gazed upon the pieces of stone that were spilled across the wood. Pieces of marble peppered across the area with what appeared to be bronze statues ripped from their homes.
Among the rubble pieces of heraldry from so many different lands. Many were the clear art works of the Albion peoples, with curving art of lines and knots displayed across the room. But they were all joined by others, others that Lucian realized were of eagles and horses. Of dragons and stags from lands far beyond what was simple Albion.
“My eternal sleep was stirred when the urgings of the snake flushed my veins. I had forgotten the sweet and ever lasting taste of man’s blood that eternal sleep had robbed me! So I rose, I rose from my slumber and sounded the horns! I rose and called the first of your kind.”
There Lucian started to notice them. At the highest peaks were the banners and broken tapestry that contained the artwork of the Grail. Its golden radiance was robbed as ashes and smoke smothered. Above them all though was a banner Lucian recognized in an instant.
“We all heard it, we all heard the cry and howling of the Hound when with my own two hands I ripped apart the King of Fools and his flying beast. Oh the blood of such a fool was delectable, how sweet the nectar of their goddess blessed my mouth that I could sleep for a hundred more years!”
It was the crowned lion wielding a sword. Its colors of red and blue were striking to the eyes. All peasants and nobles knew to kneel when they sighted such a banner for it was of the Royarch, their King.
Climbing with the bellowing of their lord, the Norsman who were kneeling towards the center began to bellow in a single, powerful concussion of force. It was like a steady drum that was matching Lucian’s pounding heart as he realized all the scraps were from campaigns waged and pass.
