The first ones to fire were the Rangers, Heavy Weapon Marines, and Armigers, as their weapons were at a far enough range to rip into the incoming horde. The amount of bullets that were going through the air was like before, but unlike the time the Kommandos had the drop of the Rangers fell in the sight of the Machine God.
UZ1 could feel her Machine Spirits quake under the pressure as she corrected what seemed to be hundreds of bullets going through the air. So few failed to hit their mark that while many of the attacks were absorbed by the Greenskin many others tore throats, hearts, and even brains from the unarmored horde that was approaching them.
None however shall ignore the Armigers and Astartes as they both ripped into the horde. While the giant Squig and its rider were among the horde of creatures they still found targets in the many mechanical contraptions UZ1 never once saw before now. All of them, abominations to the Machine God, were quickly cut down by red hot lances of purifying energy.
The Vanguard, who were standing before their armored cohort, had finished loading their enriched rounds into their chambers as the Orks finally reached them. With twelve guns firing the Skitarii sent ripped a hole into the endless tide of green that was rushing towards them. A few unlucky ones began falling to the ground as mushappened gunfire from the Orks turned their mechanical lives short but UZ1 knew their sacrifice was not in vain.
Soon though the Orks were close and the guard was changed. The Skitarii moved themselves back and allowed the Astartes to move forward with their flamers up high. With a single depression of their triggers the flames danced into the crowd as bullets clanged off their armor. They were not invincible however, as UZ1 watched one of the astartes take a bullet and bleed from an exposed part of their armor.
“WAAAGH!!! CHARGE DAMN YOU CHARGE!”
UZ1 watched as the Squig riding Ork reappeared over the horde and began his approach with a sinister grin in his mouth. The creature, whatever he was, somehow planned that the moment the Orks crashed into the Astartes he would be there to shatter the front line.
An action needed to be made.
>Order the Armigers to charge!
>Begin the rotation of gunfire, just like the Red Coats in Zulu.
>Dangerous, but let's call in an Orbital Bombardment.
