You say you aren't lying, and if you had any way to prove it you would. You ask if they must have some sort of alien technology or magical spell that can show you are telling the truth. You tell them you have permission to use it. You have nothing to hide.
"Actually, if you are truly consenting then we do have options." The alien says, pulling out a silvery pen sized object. From the tip she pulls a suction cup-like plug connected to a wire out from it. "Hold out your finger."
You comply, and she places it on your finger. You ask what it is, but she ignores you.
"Do you agree to tell the truth to the best of your ability?" She asks.
You nod.
"Now, where did the egg come from." she says, more business-like.
It just appeared in your bedroom one day.
"And this app that was on your phone, where did it come from."
It also just appeared out of nowhere.
"Have you been in contact with any portals?"
You say you haven't. Technically that's true. You personally never found the portal after all, you just heard the gnomes talk about it.
"What other fairies have you come in contact with since the egg appeared, if any?"
No way you are turning on the weird chicken loving creature or the gnomes. If she means fairies like the little creatures with wings then you haven't.
"How is it you came to become an anomaly?"
You pause, and ask her what she means. You don't even know what an anomaly is. You are just a normal guy who was thrown into a situation he didn't ask for. Didn't you say Tamako was the anomaly?
"I don't believe I did, and it wouldn't make sense she was." She replies. "She's a fae. She can't be an anomaly."
You sigh, and ask again what an anomaly even is.
"Perhaps you don't call it an anomaly? How does 'catalyst', or a 'focus' sound? 'Nexus'? I believe living anomalies specifically can be called 'protagonist', or more pejoratively, a 'warlock'?"
You've heard of protagonists and warlocks before, but in more of a DnD and video game sense. The rest of those words don't mean anything to you.
The alien leans back over the table and removes the suction cup from your hand. As she winds it back up into her device she gets up and says, "If you'll excuse me, I will return shortly."
She walks up to the exit, there is a loud buzz, and she opens the door and steps out.
What the heck is going on?
