Your hunting lesson has been fruitful. You now know the value of burying yourself and hiding your presence. As you grow and practice, your control over your vines will improve as well. You're not confident you can kill anything just yet, but you at least know how. You've also gotten to taste the fruits of your effort. Father has made it clear that he expects swift growth, and by the next moon, you must have successfully hunted by yourself at the very least.
You're so focused that you find yourself struggling when Mother tries to teach you about living in the swamps around you. She strikes your rump with a vine when you fail to respond to a query for the third time, eliciting a yelp from you. Snarling in displeasure, she impresses the importance of soil conditions upon you once again. Ground that's hard and baked will be tough to burrow through. Soil that's too wet will see fewer prey wandering atop it in the first place. She tries to teach you about smells and scents that mark the territory of other creatures, but you're too distracted to absorb much more. Eventually, she leaves the four of you to play among the trees, with strict orders to return once called.
While out and about, you suddenly sense a presence on the edge of the treeline. It senses you as well, and a wave of curiosity washes against you. You approach slowly, preparing to whip it if it turns out to be a threat. You're equally curious, for no prey has sent out such awareness before. Only your own siblings!
You emerge from the bushes at the same time as the other creature, and you both behold each other in the afternoon light. It's another dragon! It's nothing like you, however. It's bright red and blue, with a more sinewy frame and a snout that's more angular than beak-like. The hatchling peeps softly, seemingly highly cautious.
>Play with it! This is the first dragon you've met. And it's not prey. This is a prime opportunity to socialise with something outside your family unit.>Call your siblings over. See what they make of it. Unfortunately, your eldest one will likely be included in this. >Attack it. It's near your clearing, so that must mean it's intruding on your territory. Show your superiority by defeating it first.>Cry for Mother. You haven't been taught of other dragons inhabiting the swamps yet. She knows best, defer to her.
