>Admin to Bond with Future via Intercom: Ease your mind about the upcoming ordeal, ask if we did the right things, thank him personally for helping with the fish.
You flip your camera over to Future's containment cell. He's standing in the middle of the room. The tip of his sword has pierced a bit into the metal containment cell floor. The moment you test your mic, he looks up at the camera in the cell.
"Hello, Administrator." His voice is level and neutral. "What brings you for a chat today?"
You let a deep breath out. "Did I do the right things? Are...am I doing a good job?" Your two assistants give you slightly worried looks but otherwise stay silent.
The knight solemnly croaks. An old, barely used laugh trickles out of his mouth. "That was a question I asked to myself not too long ago. Do you think you did the right thing?"
"I. Frankly, what I do is what I think is necessary. What was that old motto? Cold but not cruel?" You wonder where you heard that from. Sounds familiar. "But I always wonder if I could be better. Do better."
"Your choices have prevented death so far. And they will continue to. There will always be sacrifices to be made..." The knight grips the hilt of his blade. "...but there is no bloodless path in this world. We can only limit how much is spilled."
"Which I thank you for helping in doing. That fish, for instance. Not sure if it would've been deathless without you."
The knight nods. "I simply followed the path that helped me fulfill my redemption. There is no further praise to be given to me."
The knight walks closer to the camera. "Are you scared? Of what is about to happen?"
[HOPELESS WRECK] WE MUST SURVIVE.
[BOUND BY DUTY] We must withstand.
"...Yes. I am. That's part of the reason I'm talking to you. Some part of me feels like my luck is running out. That this is going to fuck me over." You wipe away at your mouth. A dark stain forms on your suit's sleeve.
The knight doesn't respond for a moment. It slowly returns back to where it was standing before. It slowly removes its helmet before turning back to you.
"Perhaps it is. Perhaps two people will die. Perhaps five. Perhaps zero. I will try to limit the damage but...we can only do so much. Avoid death for so long. But, there's one benefit to our positions."
"Even if the burden of the benefit will weigh down on forever."
You weakly laugh. "I feel like you know what you're going to say but go ahead. I want to hear it from the man himself."
"Simply put, we get to try again. We can pick ourselves up from the ashes and keep moving forward. Because if we don't keep carrying our burdens and be the leading shepherd, who will be?"
"...This burden gets worse every day." You admit. "But you're right. There's no one else who can carry it. Thanks for the chat, it helped. Somewhat."
The knight simply puts his helmet back on. "I was simply returning the favor. You helped me. I helped you. Blessedth your day."
