It was genuinely hard, but you forced yourself to stare at them until you could look at them without visibly cringing or flinching. Some shied away from your scrutiny, while others seemed to regard you with similar curiosity. In some corners of the room, you caught a few of them glaring at you, but that was to be expected when you were a stranger in an understandably reclusive community. Callisto was the most human looking out of all of them.
Finally, you returned your gaze to her, and she regarded you carefully for a few more moments. All of you remained silent, even Flint, until Callisto nodded, seemingly finding what she was looking for in your eyes.
“These are the Morlocks.” she said, gesturing at her people and the home that they’d built together. “And this is our home. Well, the entire sewer system is our home, really.” she shrugged.
Suddenly, there was movement amongst the crowd of mutants, and they parted to allow one of their own to approach you. From a distance, the man was little more than a glittering silhouette that was dressed in ratty clothes. But as he got closer, you began to notice some of his more distinct features. In place of flesh, he had green, slightly transparent crystal. You could see straight through his well sculpted face, letting you catch a glimpse of his skull. His eyes were perfectly round and glassy, like a doll’s eyes, and he had spiky, light green hair that was swept back and went down past his shoulders. You were thankful for the fact that you couldn’t see his brain through his head.
“Gents, I’d like you to meet Glass.”
Glass stopped beside Callisto and gave both you and Flint an assessing glance. Seemingly satisfied, he nodded. “Callisto tells me you’re looking for some muscle.” he said, sounding calm and collected.
Even as he said that, you couldn’t help but notice how thin he was. You could actually see his collarbone and a few ribs through the holes in his shirt. And he sounded young, too. The guy couldn’t have been much older than 18. You just hoped that Callisto wouldn’t send a kid off to war without telling you.
A close examination of Glass’ facial features told you that he might’ve been quite handsome, had his mutation not taken such a bizarre turn. You could vaguely see his teeth through his mouth, and his eyelids were slightly transparent when he blinked.
You should probably stop staring.
What will you do/say?
>”How old are you, exactly?”
>”Callisto tells me that you’re a good fighter. Care to prove that?”(Fight him yourself, or send in Flint)
>”What’s your stance on killing?”
>”What are your talents?”
>”What made you leave Xavier’s school?”
>Allow Flint to conduct the interview while you speak with Callisto.
>Write-in.
