>Kuat. That silence is worrying, but KDY is the most prolific shipwright around. You know you won’t get a better opportunity for repairs, or more, than there.Captain Tyro nods. “Kuat it is then. Helmsman! Set a course!” The meeting over, you all return to your various rooms to mull over things and prepare for arrival at Kuat. Kuat Drive Yards. The biggest shipwright in the galaxy, and perhaps the single most important military asset in the Republic. A gigantic ring of shipyards encircles the space above the planet, in which thousands of ships are made, ranging from small escorts to enormous dreadnoughts, the biggest and most heavily armed starships ever built. They had almost singlehandedly built the entire Republic navy from scratch. Whoever controlled Kuat would gain an overwhelming advantage in the wars to come, both through access to the ships it made and by depriving their enemy of them as well. But who knew what you would find when you entered the system?
You’re on the bridge again with Fabian, Thax, and the rest of the commanders several hours later when the ship emerges from hyperspace into the Kuat system. A silence descends on the bridge as everyone looks through its triangular windows at the sight that greets you. You had expected there to be a battle, burning ships and wreckage, fighting on an even greater scale than on Cato Neimoidia; the Kuat Sector Forces engaging in civil war like the rest of the Republic. Perhaps you had even feared that the shipyards might be damaged, or worse, destroyed. But what you see through the windows of the bridge is… something else.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo9GN--eoGkYou are not greeted with the flaming wreckage and ruin you had expected. Ships do not duel in the space above the shipyards of Kuat, nor are they divided in a silent standoff. The communications terminals do not immediately scream with shouted orders and cries for help. No, what lies before you is something that causes everyone in the bridge to pause. What you see stationed above Kuat is the single biggest fleet you have ever seen. There must be hundreds of star destroyers, all arrayed outward in a defensive posture around the planet, within them the gigantic command ships of Kuat’s defence fleet, the Mandator dreadnoughts. Squadrons of venators patrol the outer edges of the system, escorted by starfighters, and the planetary defence stations float calmly in the void. It takes a moment for the creeping realisation to hit you: The Kuat Sector Forces are not at war.
Through your shock, you notice off to the side that two ships have peeled off one squadron and are rapidly approaching your position. As they get closer you make out their shape, two imposing, dagger shaped, grey ships. They belong to the newest Imperator class star destroyers, a class of ship that utterly dwarfs the Acclamator you’re currently on.
