>>5312241You’re about to kill your countrymen. A grim thought. Sure, Derrek, Byron and Ronald were also your countrymen, but you didn’t necessarily like them. They also attacked you first, you simply returned the favor. But the men in front of you have done you no such harm. They don’t necessarily strike you as conscripts. Their armor and weapons seem to be too high quality for that. But they’re clearly just normal, imperial civilians, rather than the Inhumans you most recently fought back at the Sealed Forest. These people that have done you no harm. You feel a pang of regret at what you’re about to do. But you understand the necessity of it. You’ve had plenty of time to make your decision, and there’s no going back now.
>“Leave none standing. The Prince must be rescued.”You and Sir Byron exchange signals, and the next thing you know you’re soaring high above the battlefield on Beathan, channeling your magic to rain devastation on the enemy below. Your targets are the six soldiers currently attempting to batter down the gate to Highwind Tower, chopping at the wood with their axes. If you can take them out, perhaps you can allow the Prince some breathing room to even join the fight. Blue magic swirls around your hands as you hear the men below you scream and head into battle. Power courses inside you, the spell ready. The men at the door turn at the sudden sound of battle, but their fates have already been sealed.
>“Fimbulvetr!”A cold wind blows through the battlefield as large icicles erupt from the ground, skewering and impaling the six axemen that were at the fort’s door. None are able to escape the blast of your spell as all six men are killed in an eruption of blood and frost.
>50xp gained! From your perch high above, you can see the battle down below clearly. Sir Bertram and his men have jumped into the fray, followed by Corrine and your mercenary companions. The enemy camp has been bombarded by both arrow and magic, sending the Imperials scattering and putting them in disarray. The soldier that was nearest to the tree line you were all hiding in can only drop her weapon in surprise and raise her arms before a charging Corrine sends her head flying off.
A little further ahead, two soldiers charge your friend, their spears outstretched, only to be batted away by Theo. The madman swings his axe perpetually, with no signs of tiring. The soldier’s spears are broken and flung away by the superior steel of his Killer Axe, and their intestines soon follow. An armored knight challenges the orange-haired brute with his own sharpened axe. The two trade blows, eventually locking blades. The armored knight is strong, but Theo’s own strength seems otherworldly. Theo pushes back, sending the man to his knees. He bangs him in the head with his Killer Axe, denting the man’s helmet with a sickening crunch, and finishes him off.
