>>5885951>“Gear or not, we’ve faced down far worse and come out on top. If they wish to throw down their spears and join ranks, I’ll be happy to have them. But if they’re as loyal to the Count as you say, I won’t hesitate to deal with them.”“And the mercenaries?” Gerald asks.
>“The Blackwings are the strongest mercenary company in all Fodlan.” You boast. “I fear no other company.”Gerald studies you closely, as if looking at you for the first time. “You’ve grown since I last saw you. No longer the unsure little girl I remember skulking through the castle. It suits you. Very well. I’ll lend you those soldiers from the Rusalkan Guard who defected with me. With them on your side, your numbers should be about even. Akzeriuth is well-guarded, but it’s nothing like the castle. You should have no problem knocking down whatever passes for walls there. Slay the mercenary leader, and make sure you find the scholar from the Royal Academy of Sorcery. Without him or his powder, we’ll have no way of breaching the castle walls.”
>“Gather your men, and we’ll head to Akzeriuth tomorrow.”“One last thing.” Gerald says. “As I told you, many of my own are still wet behind the ears. I’d say more than half of them have never even been in a real fight. It would do them much good to receive some instruction from someone in your band. I don’t suppose you would be able to spare someone to play the part? While you’re dealing with Akzeriuth, my rookies can stay behind and hopefully pick up something from your man.”
Surely you could spare one man to train Gerald’s rebels. The hardest battle would be at the one at castle, and it would be good if they were in at least some shape for it.
