D&D Night went late again tonight, so that means Lore Time. Also, a WIP that I worked on in the background during D&D time (though after getting some feedback, gonna have to redraw a lot).
Cuisine in the Daffodil Kingdom
Azalea
Mushrooms of every shape, size, and flavor can be found in the swamplands of Azalea. The region also holds the widest variety of sweet bell pepper species, with the red-gold swirled Dawn Pepper being considered a local delicacy for its delicate balance of sweetness with spicy afterburn. Gumbos featuring mushrooms, peppers, sweet onions, longstrider pheasant, and herd lizard sausage are a staple among the people of the marshes. The wet climate of the region is not suitable for wheat, so while much flour is imported from the neighboring regions, their staple grain is a long grained yellow rice.
Camellia
A cold region in the southern reaches of the kingdom, known for its stews. Hearty root vegetables, especially turnips, carrots, and parsnips make up the bulk of the foodstuffs that are not bread and meat. Most of their dishes are stewed over the course of the day, worked on from dawn until dusk. Inns in the Camellia region are famous (or infamous) for having "eternal pots" of stew that never empty, simply adding fresh ingredients when the pot gets low.
Heartlands
Fish.
Dear lord the amount of fish the people of the heartlands eat. Breakfast? Fish. Lunch? Fish. Dinner? Even more fish. There are entire islands dedicated to creating fermented fish-sauce to put on top of fish so they can enjoy fish with their fish. They'll fry their fish in eggs and breadcrumbs. They'll stew their fish with mushrooms and vegetables. They'll eat smoked fish on rounds of bread with cream cheese and capers. They'll put their fish upon a pizza. They'll make a meatloaf out of their fish with horseradish and onions that no one else but they can enjoy.
Primrose
The breadbasket of the Daffodil Kingdom. Most of the wheat, barley, and other staple grains in the nation are grown in the Primrose region of the Daffodil Kingdom, and this reflects in their dishes. The best bread in the kingdom can be found here, along some of the finest pastries in the world. Pies of meats, fruits, and vegetables line the windows of every home graced with an over, and the most common street food consists of fried dough wrapped around a medley of lamb and cabbage with a cucumber sauce.
Sonnenblume
Aurochs in the valleys, grapes and olives on the hills and mountains, and rolling fields of wheat. The carrot, the onion, and celery serve as the foundation of most every bit of Sonnenblume's sauces and broths. They have a fondness for pickling that borders on the Heartland's fondness for fish. You can find every vegetable pickled in Sonnenblume... and, if your brave, you can try the pickled beef as well. Though really, it's better when its dried...
