An usher at the Covent Garden Theatre assures us that Alexi Meshkoff, whose tremendous size he recalls, was there on March 9th.
"What time did the performance end that evening?"
"11:15."
We ask the lad to show us the box that Meshkoff occupied and he leads us to the corridor behind the boxes.
"Where does this lead?" you ask, pointing to a door directly across from Meshkoff's box.
"To the alley behind the Theatre."
"Think hard. Do you specifically recall the gentleman leaving when it was over?"
"Now that you mention it, I can't say as I do."
