It is your last day ashore and you’ve just about finished up at the dockside markets when Jess the Kid and Orin have returned from their own errands and minor escapades. Your manservant is clearly not at ease with your Fae companion, though you’re uncertain as to whether that is because he is suspicious as to her true nature or because of her stunning lack of contribution to any conversation.
Jess for her part seems entirely unconcerned that she hasn’t made a friend in Orin, standing to one side inspecting the rope you recently purchased as Orin conveys the corroborative reports of movements in the armoury and dock areas confirming much of what you already know regarding the expansion and logistical planning being made by the various Freeblade companies. Thankfully Fabio isn’t in earshot when Orin relays this, but you make it evidently clear to your man the importance of avoiding any imprudence in these matters while you wrap up your final purchases.
Rope, of a pedigree and firmness that would be the envy of any ‘landlubber’. Fingerless gloves for handling said rope, wear a poor man might make do with rags wrapped about his hands. A waterproof bag, made from seal apparently, so that your letters and other vulnerable material may be proof against the elements. A versatile knife specifically crafted to cut through cable and rope, along with a sharpener. A hammock, which you hope to replace your cot with and avoid the worst of the seasickness. That and a number of small others things that will doubtless come in handy for any would-be adventurer on the high seas.
You refrained from expanding your purchases to higher tier tools that come with a cartographer licence, such as a compass or other expenses. You’re not charting a course or piloting the ship, just living on it. But hopefully the above items and a few other essentials should make any sea hardships more endurable.
