We all turned around, looking to the door leading into Yasukuni's extravagant office. We were shocked to see who had come. That groaning, wizened voice. An old, hunched man. The last person we needed to run into right now. Lord Akasa, the God of Space. One of the Trinity's big three himself.
The air became tense. It was just teetering on the edge of hostility. Ludwyhn gripped his spear tight, Eskart's gloves squeaked as he clenched his fists. Shennu and Wolfboy both fell quiet, but their claws were ready. Jenk grabbed his pitchfork with both hands. I just stared Akasa down, whilst Yasukuni went and slipped quietly back behind his desk, nervous to the point of sweating bullets.
Lord Akasa just looked around at the room, between all of us.
[AKASA] "Hahahahaha."
He pointed past us all, at Yasukuni.
[AKASA] "A once brittle Demigod, incapable of keeping up with his own audience, desperately in need of help to prevent his splitting at the seams."
I raised my eyebrow. Akasa turned to me, giving heed to my voiceless concern.
[AKASA] "For how else was the poor jejune to prevent humanity from tearing him apart, dividing their concepts of what you call "Mass Media" threefold? A god born to embody their senses of the digital, and the webscape. A god born to encompass the industry that churns out cinema constantly, building masterpieces and polished turds. A god that writes. A god for everything we compiled into this entertainer. This jester, who got his start acting on stage."
Akasa began walking past us all, and we merely... stepped aside, out of his path.
It was like he was mirroring our boldness in walking right into the Capital, by walking right past us. I felt like, had we any guts, none of us would have moved for this third of three tyrants. Yet, we did, and Akasa reasserted who ruled in the Capital just that easily. It turned our motive right onto our heads. He made us look like fools with such a simple gesture.
We cleared a path, for him to stop right in front of Yasukuni, the very man we sought to save.
[AKASA] "Humans need no guidance for the actions they take that tear apart such foundation. Look at you, little guy. Dressed so neatly in that priestly attire. Why did we ask you to wear that, again?" Akasa said, raising a hand to his pointy ear; "Tell the class, why don't you?"
[YASUKUNI] "B... B-Because I have to render to the Trinity what is theirs, p-perform prie... my duties are like a priests... performed in your name, for you."
[AKASA] "And it only makes sense. No more white facepaint, star studded cheeks, tuxedo with bow tie and little cane which flowers come out."
Akasa turned around to us, and snapped his fingers. I heard the distinct low hum of something electric. It came from Yasukuni's implement. His radio mast had powered down, rendering him powerless and incapable of commanding his own domain.
I see. He really was just a rat trapped in a cage by them then.
