"I can see that." You're not even gonna ask how she managed. For all the attention to detail Mel had, she was still the one that was most prone to getting into trouble. You wondered if she was afflicted with something similar to Ayane's cursed skill of Bad Luck. Maybe there was some fairy nonsense going on?
Whatever the case, you helped her out of there with your strength (silently grateful for all the workouts you did with Ayane), the way she popped out making you get a faceful of her posterior.
"I'm sure we're gonna look back at this one day and laugh." You said, carrying Mel on your back.
"It's already pretty funny! Besides," Mel smiled. "I know you'll always rescue me no matter what."
"I will. All I ask is that you don't needlessly run into danger." Though you knew she wasn't the type to do that, being too nervous half of the time and too detail oriented the other, it was best to nip any bad habits of hers before they'd develop.
"Don't worry, I'm not gonna run off and cause trouble." She smiled joyfully.
"Where's the pirate ship you're talking about?" You asked, wanting to know if it was on land or under water.
"Just half a mile further beyond this ironclad warship. You'll see it when the palm trees start to get more dense. It's a recent wreck, you can't miss it."
You both ended up talking about the little souvenirs she'd found.
"Just remember to let Herta look them over. We don't want to bring some cursed item with us back to the mansion by accident."
"I will. And speaking of treasure," She'd said with some excitement, "Some pirate ship wrecks might have some!"
Your response was delayed by a certain shouting goddess. "Master! Food's ready~!"
You both went to join a small barbecue that was starting.
"A shipwreck with treasure?" Bertha repeated the news after you and Mel told everyone.
"Nope." Mel said.
"Wait, does it or does it not still have loot?" You asked.
"Nah. I mean, yeah! It does. Just, uh, not in the ship. In, like, the reef, all scattered around the reef and in some underwater ships." Mel clarified. "I've been finding stuff from diving ever since we came here."
"Abandoned underwater ships sound like the beginning of some sort of ghost story." Herta commented as she was looking over the items Mel found. "There's nothing cursed here. But most of this stuff is junk." The goddess said, not pulling her punches.
"Urk." Mel smiled weakly "Well, I know, but at least they're nice mementos of this place..." She muttered under her breath.
"A sunken ghost ship? That would be inconvenient if it were the case." Ayane casually said in reply to Herta's comment, but you could perceive a shred of worry in the old vixen.
"I doubt it's anything like that." Ruby responded, already hatching a contingency plan in her eyes. "And besides, we have both the goddess and that annoying ghost in the off chance we encounter anything spiritual."
