The statues of the lizardmen were tall and mighty obelisks of stone and craftsmanship. Lucian could tell that each of these were different in both their making and the symbols that rested upon each of them. Perhaps written upon their stone-flesh was riddles of how one made it to their hidden temples.
Shellalli however was not bound by such needs. With grace their elfish guide took them through the forests and over the hills to places beyond normal sight. Here there was little sunlight and many of times the statues of the Lizardmen were next to one another acting as guards to a path.
They were threats the Knight could guess. Threats to the outsiders. Threats to them.
Lucian was in a foreign land now. Far more foreign than even the lands of Albion already were. Here was the realm of the Old Ones, Old Gods that he was told were older than even those like the Lady of the Lake. To what truth that held Lucian did not know, but it did seem like they were indeed the Old Gods of this realm.
“We have arrived.” Spoke the Elf as she breached a curtain of branches. Lucian and Bok did the same, soon being welcomed by a sight to remember.
It was massive.
The Temple of Konquata reached for the stars. Its size was so great that it blocked out the sun which was setting behind it. Lucian would describe the temple as a series of steps that were next to one another in a fashion that seemingly went on forever towards the sky. Around it were massive pillars that scrapped the clouds themselves.
On all the dull red sculptures and steps were the vines that dangled on all of it. Shrubbery and pest plants that tried to overtake the magnificent structures. They did not succeed, instead accenting the display of awe and grandeur that such a temple could hold.
“I have brought you to the Ancient One’s Temple.” Spoke Shellalli as she gestured a hand towards the place, “Will you be wise and stay in the shadows or simply charge them like you did Grimidal?”
“If I hid then I would bring dishonor to the Lady and all who support me.” Lucian said as he looked towards Bok, “We march forward and announce our arrival. I thank you for your service.”
The Elf looked upon Lucian with a damning glare, “I will not share your fate then, annointed.”
With those words the Elf went back into the forest, disappearing from Lucian’s vision. Something told him though that she was still going to be around.
