You have two choices of weapon types, heavy weapons which are capable of dealing more damage, but can only be mounted on the two back hardpoints on the mech, and light weapons, which deal less damage comparatively, but two can be mounted on each heavy weapon hardpoint (heavy weapons on the left side, light weapons on the right side)
