You can’t help but come to the conclusion that the enemy is provoking you to attack them because they have some kind of ambush or trap prepared at the site of their artillery that could turn the fight to their favor, especially since you’ve been worn down as much as you have. Avenger’s suggestion to relocate and deny the enemy a target to strike sounds more convincing to you than rushing out to fight again.
“Your plan is sound, the quip about ‘dead weight’ notwithstanding.” You tell Avenger, “We don’t need to wipe out the mobile artillery if we can relocate and they won’t even know where we are. Please teleport us back to the hotel and we can decide on a new place to go.”
“Gladly, I’ve seen enough of these tunnels for today.” Your Servant replies as she prepares to cast the teleportation spell. “I’m relieved you see reason here Master.”
“Can’t say I’m pleased we’re letting them off the hook.” Sophia grumbles, “But I get why you’re calling it quits. It’ll be nice to see Anne and Koko again, at least.”
In a flash, you find yourself back at the hotel that you were using as a base, and quickly go over to the room where Truvietianne, Koko, and Suzaku were holed up. Your Servant lets you support her as you walk, and Sophia follows behind.
As you enter the room, Truvietianne is the first to greet you, “Welcome back, are-” quickly noticing Avenger’s wounds, she reflexively raises a hand over her mouth and says with concern in her voice, “Oh dear, will you be alright?! What happened?”
Koko and Suzaku are also startled at the sight, and you explain, “The enemy set up traps and had a couple of Servants in the area. We destroyed one Servant and forced the enemy back, but decided against pushing into their next line of defense.”
“I can get you a new shirt if you want.” Suzaku offers, as you tore your old, tattered shirt off earlier. Sometime you ought to see if you can find armor, or at least clothes that can hold up in these superhuman battles. Meanwhile, Koko stares quietly. She’s probably just surprised at the state you and Avenger arrived in and doesn’t know what to say. Probably.
Poking her head into the room for the first time, Sophia surprises the others, saying, “I found out what was happening and lent a hand too. Hi everyone!”
Koko remarks, “Oh, you’re back! Je-, no, you go by Sophia now, right? How did you ditch the people who kidnapped you?”
“I mean, they had their own shit to deal with and Rusalka lost her wight minions in a battle last night, so rather than waste time imprisoning me or whatever they let me leave, assuming I’d go back before long.” Sophia replied.
“Just like that?” Suzaku asks as he leans back in his chair and sips something from a styrofoam cup before continuing, “They didn’t do magic that tracks or bugs you or something?”
