>>5129996After fighting with Guts and trying to figure out the origins of your powers with him, learning a bit more about elves as well as the earthly spirits that walk this earth, the mercenary from The Band Of The Falcons uncharacteristically declared his exit from Griffith's army.
"Where are you going?" You try to get out of bed as Guts leaves the room, but the strain on your body from gifting him your life energy proves to be exhausting, seeing as you managed to heal his light and moderate wounds at the cost of your own life force.
"...Away. I appreciate you healing my wounds, would have made the walk downstairs a lot harder on me, I even considered waiting a few days to get better, but thanks to you that won't be the case. Griffith and the Band don't really need me anymore, so I think it's time for me to leave. Pursue a dream of my own, one that would make him proud, and see me as his equal."
"What?" You stare confusedly at the man leaning at the door of his room. For what reason would he want to abandon the group at the height of not only his, but all of the kingdom's history?
"Surely you've noticed how focused Griffith is on his dream, right? I've overhead his conversations with the princess a few times. He said something about how he can't consider us friends since we have no bigger dreams to accomplish in life. And that's when I came to realise that I... never lived for another reason than not wanting to die. It has been a long time coming, but I need some time for myself. To re-evaluate my life from this point since. Maybe then this feeling of always being beneath him would go away, and we would finally be comrades."
Guts seems very motivated in figuring his life out, improving on his mental state, but he seems to really underestimate his value on the team, surely if he just left without warning people would not only miss him, but grow angry at his sudden disappearance in Griffith's victory march into noblehood.
