>>5373631>I recall that more well off Knight worlds had Peasants - demilitarized work frames based on the Knight for both mining and agriculture. It does kinda make sense.
QM said that the Knights themselves are the actual industrial/construction engines for Knight Worlds but that only tells half the picture. Yes Chainsaws can be used to cut trees, Melta guns to mine ore, giant hands to build structures, and the like. But is it the knights or someone else that does these tasks, and who runs the factories that produce the Knight parts before the Techpriests arrived or without the Federations engineers?
Maybe there are "Work Horses" or non-combat steeds, with very weak to no machine spirits and who have been stripped all but the most rudimentary of tools and weapons, whose purpose is to aid in the manufacture of knights and the manning of factories in crafting new knight parts. Perhaps "Smiths"/"Artificers"/"Castellans" whatever they were called prior to the Techpriests arrival, were in charge of the maintenance of both the Knights forts and steeds, a class higher than the common peasant but less than a noble. Alternatively perhaps Squires have to train as smiths first, to gain a technical understanding of how to manage a steed (it is a poor pilot/knight that does not know the workings of his own steed - dating back to the days of Colony when pilots actually had to have technical and engineering expertise).
Alternatively maybe we're wrong and Knights and Nobles actually do work between battles besides just training, jousting, rich people stuff but I have a feeling that's not the case. They train their whole lives to fight and the whole shtick of Fuedalism is "Peasants do the work in exchange for Noble warrior protection". It's just funny to imagine Aleksander and Frederic going about cutting down trees and pouring ferrocrete in their spare time (I mean they can, but would they is the question?)
We should look into the actual economy of the Knight Worlds in relation to their knights, and how we can not only possibly optimize them but learn something that will be of applicable use to our forge worlds. Somehow someway they were able to maintain and manufacture knights even before our arrival.
We could do that now here that this planet will be Duke Bellerus world before we depart back to TalOS fleet. It's a good chance for QM to elaborate more.
