The movement of the Mechanicum’s fleet quickly changed as the declaration was fluttered through the systems and carried through. Thrusters set themselves beyond the standard limits of power and none upon the ships paid much heed to what was clearly a sign from the Machine God himself. Thanks to this they all began to carry themselves through the air and rocketed towards the Xenos fleet.
The Xenos had seen such tactics many times before and thus they responded like they always had. Upon the Mechanicum’s arrival within optimal weapons range the ships were fluttered with hundreds of energy type bolts that flashed colors that some could never describe.
These bolts were clearly Warp Based, and while the Void Shields were able to withstand a few strikes from them most of the shields were popped when the fleet crossed halfway into no-man’s land.
Many of the Shield Generators then and there began to catch fire across the Mechanicum’s fleet. However these Machine Spirits, in their moments of pain and misery, knew that they had done what needed to be done.
It was upon reaching the halfway point that the first Mechanicum ship fell to enemy fire. A Tartarus Class Destroyer known as the Canticle of the Abyss imploded into the soundless stars. Its body was not useless however as two Tartarus Class vessels quickly moved themselves behind the still moving debris of space as a sudo shield.
Even the corpses of the Mechanicum’s finest would find themselves in some sort of use for the Machine God’s cause.
Five others fells to this attack, all Destroyers with thousands of both Skitarii and Servitors on board. It was however thanks to their destruction that none of the Cruisers fell to the same fate that a quarter of the enemy’s fleet had suffered before.
Through grit and determination the fleet finally made it into turret range. Those who looked from the side would claim that in a single moment the entire fleet of the Mechanicum erupted with a lightshow of lights that slaughtered everything that got close to them.
