>>5306344>>5306352>>5306354>>5306359"I would be lying if I did not say that I wish to see Zhafira as herself again, or to restore my dear friend's beloved Casca. Indeed, I also want to ease your own suffering, Bolzack - it's clear to me that you've suffered all these years. However, at the crux of my decision is thus: you stated that the person used would be a subject. And on the off chance that it does not work as intended, that it has unbearable side-effects or consequences? I would only offer my own body for such a test. I would never, ever risk another's life or wellbeing with such a test, no matter how certain of the benefits we are. Life has a way of twisting the best intentions if one acts too hastily, after all."
You state your case on how you have a condition that goes beyond bodily limitations, much like Casca, Zhafira or Bolzack's wife, yet being patient zero means anything could happen if the first shot if your antidote misfires. And if you do end up turning someone into a plan, it might as well be someone who already has familiarity with them.
Bolzack stays silent, in deep thinking as your words appear to get through to him. He still seems to be wondering if you have any intention of fulfilling your end of the bargain, instead of just dying or leaving without lending him a sample.
"You dangle the promise of saving my dear Anette from insanity, only to say you want to save yourself first?"
"If Guts was successful in taking the heart from Eliza's town, we should be able to heal 2 of our sickly, instead of just one."
"Then make sure Anette is the second in line, or else you and your group will only leave Cromwell after fighting all of my soldiers."
That's going to leave both Casca and Zhafira out of the equation... The latter is in no rush to be healed if it's up to her, but you doubt Guts will be complacent with your actions.
"Where could he be? It doesn't feel just to discuss who goes first without Guts here..." You speak out loud.
"He should be arriving soon, provided Gyove has taken Casca under the swordsman's nose like I ordered him to. I wanted to make sure he would come back and stay until dawn." Bolzack smirked, taking advantage of the mentally impaired to bait Guts into giving him the heart.
Before, he wasn't sure that he could heal Anette, but now that he found a way through you, he's already firm on which course of action to pursue.
Hope did nothing but reveal his true colors.
