If the common serf seeks more knowledge than that needed to maximize their efficiency, they need to prove in the factorums and apply themselves as an adept, just like any other. And this is extremely unlikely given there's already a waiting list of objectively superior nobles who have been downloading higher aristocratic education from almost before birth to serve the Mechanicum anyway. Not like factory life gives much time for superior education either.
