The Man was the first to bring it up to everyone else's attention. Of course, semi-mobile scales are one thing. No, it's WHY they were moving that interests you.
Every time they moved, it was to get close to you, Ashton, and the Man. Whoever was closest at any given time would be the 'target' the scales drifted towards. A few tests soon reveal that they're tracking both your position and body heat.
When Ashton chilled her hands using the snow bucket, even when she was standing right next to you, the scales drifted in your direction instead. Interesting. The closer you get to the scales, the more noticeable and violent their movements become.
As for the slurry, the wall you painted with it does, suddenly, have what appears to be a door. A vague, crude approximation of a door but a door nonetheless. Nowhere near as convincing as what the anomaly was able to do but it's a step in the right direction.
>STATIC SCALES properties uncovered!
>The slurry it produces can be used to create illusionary, fake objects that mimic the nearby environment. Could be useful for making traps if you could refine the slurry.
>The scales can be used to track and locate nearby living creatures. You unlock a new crafting option!
Welp, that's a wrap!
>SHIFT 6 IS OVER!!! You're going to be promoted tomorrow!!!
You'll talk to FET real quick on your computer, and then you'll leave. Simple as that.
While the Man scrubs the slurry off the wall, you suddenly realize you forgot something.
You hastily yank out the belongings you stole from the dead researcher's lab and you shove them into Ashton's hands. "Whoops, here you go, completely forgot about it."
"oh!" She takes a second to recover from you shoving piles of junk into her hands. "wait, this is...ooohh! i thought this stuff was lost for good!"
"Yeahhhh, I had those for a few days now, kinda forgot about it with everything else going on!"
"heh. i get that." She stuffs the PERSONAL BELONGINGS away somewhere on her person. "hey. before we call off the shift, i got a question."
"Hm?"
"...this is going to sound silly but..." She pauses. You can see she's arguing with herself on if she wants to ask this or not.
"do you know what a harvester is?" She asks with obvious hesitation and what seems to be confusion? It's hard to put a pin on it.
Wait. What? She's a harvester, right? That's what the Man said. Why is she talking like she doesn't know what they are? Does she suspect that you know something?
How do you answer, Vincent?
>LIE. "Never heard of them before. Why?"
>HALF-TRUTH. "Someone told me about them. I don't know any real specifics, though."
>TRUTH. "Yeah. Human sub-species, eats any kind of flesh, always hungry. Why, do you know something about them?"
>DON'T RESPOND. You want to see what she says about them.
>DEFLECT. "Any reason you're asking me specifically?"
>GET TO THE POINT. "I already know you're one, Ashton." (???)
>Write in.
